N52 Ring Magnets

N52 Ring Magnets

N52 ring magnets combine the annular geometry of a ring magnet with a high-energy-product material grade for compact magnetic assemblies. The central opening can accommodate shafts, sensor elements, optical paths, or other assembly features. Ring magnets can be specified by OD, ID, thickness, magnetization direction, pole pattern, coating, dimensional tolerance, and drawing-defined features.

Custom Features & Secondary Machining

Custom geometries and edge treatments can be produced based on technical drawings:
Counterbores and countersunk holes
Stepped profiles and keyways
Edge chamfers and defined radius features according to drawing requirements and part geometry

Magnetization Options

N52 ring magnets are supplied fully magnetized or unmagnetized according to assembly requirements:

Axial Magnetization: Magnetized through the thickness, with magnetic poles residing on the two flat annular end faces.

Radial Magnetization: Magnetized across the radial direction, from the inner diameter toward the outer diameter or in the opposite direction. The required orientation depends on the magnetic circuit and assembly design.

Multi-Pole Magnetization: Configured with alternating N/S poles according to a specified pole count, pitch, and magnetic orientation. The achievable pattern depends on ring geometry and magnetizing feasibility.

Diametrical Magnetization: Magnetized across the diameter, with the magnetic direction oriented from one side of the ring to the opposite side.

Coating Options

Untreated sintered NdFeB is susceptible to oxidation. Coatings are selected based on operational environment and assembly clearances:

Coating Option

Typical Use Environment

Ni-Cu-Ni (Triple Nickel)

General industrial environments requiring standard corrosion protection.

Epoxy

Applications requiring additional moisture protection or electrical insulation.

Zinc

Cost-effective applications where zinc-based surface protection is specified.

Parylene / Specialized Coatings

Specific environmental, electrical, or assembly clearance requirements.

Industrial Applications

N52 ring magnets are specified across precision electro-mechanical applications:

BLDC & Servo Motors: Rotors, actuators, and compact electric drives.

Rotary Encoders & Position Sensors: Precision angular feedback and position sensing units.

Magnetic Couplings: Contactless torque transmission and sealed fluid pumps.

Rotary Actuators & Automation: High-density holding and indexing mechanisms.

Inspection & Quality Documentation

Manufacturing and quality management activities are conducted under the company's applicable quality management system. ISO 9001 certification documentation can be provided.
Inspection Scope
Depending on order requirements, inspection can cover:
OD, ID, thickness, and drawing-defined dimensions
Dimensional and geometric tolerances (concentricity, parallelism, flatness)
Magnetization direction and polarity
Surface field or magnetic flux under specified test conditions
Coating condition and visual finish

Quality Documentation
Documentation can include material specifications, dimensional inspection reports, magnetic test data, coating information, batch identification, and applicable compliance documentation according to order requirements.

Packaging & Logistics

Physical Protection: Ring magnets are packaged with non-magnetic spacers and fitted foam trays to protect edges and surfaces during transit.

Air Shipment Packaging: Magnetic shielding or protective packaging can be arranged when required for air transportation. Packaging is reviewed against applicable carrier and air-transport requirements before shipment.

FAQ

Q: What is the lead time for custom N52 ring magnets?

A: Standard production lead times are typically 15–30 days after drawing approval and order confirmation. Sample and prototype timing depends on part geometry, quantity, magnetization, coating, and inspection requirements.

Q: What is the MOQ for N52 ring magnets?

A: MOQ typically ranges from 100 to 500 pieces, depending on part dimensions, magnetization, coating, and production requirements. Sample quantities can be discussed separately for engineering evaluation.

Q: Can you provide samples and quality inspection reports?

A: Yes, pre-production samples are available alongside full quality documentation, including dimensional inspection reports, magnetic test data, CoA, and RoHS/REACH compliance.

Q: Is N52 always the right grade for high-performance applications?

A: N52 provides maximum magnetic strength in compact spaces, but if your application operates above 80°C or faces strong demagnetizing fields, higher-coercivity grades like N45M, N42H, or N38SH should be evaluated.

Q: How are magnets packaged for safe air freight shipment?

A: Ring magnets are isolated using plastic spacers and fitted foam packaging, with optional magnetic shielding added to outer cartons to meet IATA air transportation safety limits.

Q: What details are needed to request a quotation?

A: Please provide the dimensions (OD × ID × Thickness), coating preference, magnetization direction, target quantity, operating temperature, and a 2D/3D drawing for custom features.
